Reiny Rolock, PhD Student in Composition

Reiny Rolock

Reiny Rolock is a composer who is focused on timbre as the primary material of composition. His music explores performer agency through the use of nonstandard notation and improvisational elements. His use of notation draws on both medieval and modern notational experiments. He often uses electronics to augment the possibilities of conventional instruments, and is particularly interested in the use of feedback as a way of using the performance space itself as an extension of an instrument. His music has been performed by Ensemble Dal Niente, Spektral Quartet, PRISM Quartet, and the Switch~ Ensemble, among others. He is currently residing in Munich, Germany.
