Ifeyinwa Onyenekwu, PhD, MSW
Dr. Ifeyinwa (Ife) Onyenekwu is an interdisciplinary scholar-practitioner whose recent research projects examined globalization in higher education, college student development, and equity and access for underrepresented population along the P-20 education pipeline.
Dr. Onyenekwu has worked as an the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Student Affairs
and
Assistant Professor at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. Prior to
joining Stony Brook, Dr. Onyenekwu was as an Assistant Professor of Practice in the
College Student Affairs Program at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
She also served as a Residence Hall Director at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
and in the Office of Disability Services at Louisiana State University.
Dr. Onyenekwu’s educational background includes a PhD in Education Policy, Organization and Leadership in the field of Higher Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, as well as a Master of Social Work degree and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology from Louisiana State University. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Missouri, where she received a grant to conduct international research on the career journey of Nigerian returnees with foreign degrees.
