Political Psychology Lab
The Political Psychology Lab works to facilitate research for graduate students and faculty in the department. Investigators have used the lab to pre-test items for future data collections or collect data through experimental designs. These data collections typically occur as part of a semesterly online omnibus study which the lab coordinates. The Political Psychology Lab invites proposals for material to include on the omnibus study at the beginning of each semester, with priority given to graduate students.
The lab also has physical space in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Building (N-708) with 21 individual participant computer stations for more controlled delivery of stimuli and to allow for incorporating behavioral outcome. It also has space available for group-based tasks or discussions. While data collections primarily use Qualtrics, investigators can use other data collection programs, or even paper-and-pencil.
Lab studies rely on an undergraduate student participant pool. Each semester, the lab coordinates with instructors in the department to construct a set of eligible participants. Students receive extra credit for participating in lab-run studies. Undergraduate students interested in completing a study can ask their instructor if they are enrolled in a participating class.
