Housing
All GSI students will live on-campus in Stony Brook's West Apartments. The West Apartments include 9 buildings and 230 apartments with both double and single bedrooms. The Housing Office is located in West E Commons, which is attached to Building E. Amenities at West E Commons include a Computing Center and Fitness Center which are open to West Apartment residents.
Housing Application
You will submit your request for on-campus housing as part of your GSI application. GSI housing cannot be requested through the Campus Residences portal.
Once your GSI application has been submitted, you will not be able to change your housing request. Any changes to your housing must be made by contacting gsi@stonybrook.edu. You will not receive your room assignment until check-in.
Housing Check-in
The West Apartment Quad Office is located in E Building and is a one story annex to a three-story building.
You must arrive on campus between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to the extent possible. Requests for early dorm check-in must be made directly with Campus Residences (reside@stonybrook.edu) at least 48 hours before your desired check-in time. Early check-in without approval will be subject to a $67 Improper Check-in Fee in addition to the extra night(s) of housing charges.
If you submit your Stony Brook Student ID card request in advance, you will receive your ID card at check-in. If not, you will receive a temporary card to enter into the building. When you receive your Stony Brook student ID card, you must register it at the Housing Office and return the temporary card to avoid a fee.
