Promoting Inclusive Excellence in Student Affairs
Mission
As part of the Division of Student Affairs Diversity, Inclusion, and Intercultural (DI3) Committee, the Diversity Leadership Development Initiative (DLDI) strives to cultivate an affirming and rich professional development environment for historically underrepresented Student Affairs professionals. All Student Affairs members are encouraged to participate in DLDI.
Initially funded in 2018 by a Presidential Mini-Grant for Departmental Diversity titled, Creating Diversity and Inclusion Professional Development Opportunities for Student
Affairs Professionals and Graduate Students, DLDI continues to provide its participants with the knowledge and skills needed to
successfully lead in an ever-changing higher education environment.
The DLDI program is part of the Stony Brook University Plan for Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity (Sec. IV).
Objectives
Members of the Division of Student Affairs are invited to participate in competency and leadership development activities, receive professional mentoring, and engage in social networking and cultural enrichment programs. The learning activities and experiences are designed to equip one with the knowledge, skills, and ability to change the landscape of higher education through diversity and inclusive leadership practices.
