Student Affairs professionals may participate in one or more resource teams. Resource
Teams are open groups and staff members may join groups at any time. We ask that member
identify with the group they join. Some staff may not be able to identify with their
team due to HIPAA concerns. In these instances, we ask that in those teams, staff
join only if they have an expertise in the area.
Resource teams are considered brave/safer spaces and are opportunities for engagement.
We are encouraging conversations to occur freely without feelings of being judged
about what is communicated.
The number of times a team meets is up to the convener/facilitator and team members.
The team should be flexible, meeting at the request of the members or, depending on
the professional or environmental demands, team members may create an alternative
mode of meeting. We encourage all team members to connect; however, teams should not
meet for the sake of meeting. For example, the Men of Color Group may have a recent
issue arise and want to set up time to meet but another group may decide that it does
not need to meet.
Resource Team meetings may occur in a variety of modes/formats, such as Zoom, Google
Hangouts) or in person. Conference calls and email check-in are other ways teams can
meet. Team members are encouraged to meet with peace of mind and under no pressure.
We respect the privacy of each of the restource teams. However, information within
teams that may be actionable is welcome and will be communicated by the conveners/facilitators
to Cheryl Chambers, Associate Dean of Student Affairs and DLDI Coordinator, and reported
to the Student Affairs Leadership. All matters will be appropriately addressed.
Please keep in mind any modification or change in the resource team names after the
group has convened is welcome.
