Brianna Tang, Piano

Brianna Tang is a concert pianist performing extensively in
the United States and abroad. She has played with many orchestras in the United States and in Italy. During its 93rd and 96th seasons, Brianna appeared with the Plainfield Symphony and performed Arensky’s
Fantasia on Themes of Ryabinin, Op.48 and Liszt’s “Hungarian Fantasy” under the baton of Maestro Charles Prince. Brianna performed frequently with Orchestra Sinfonica del Festival di Chioggia performing various concerti by Beethoven, Grieg, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Mozart and Rachmaninoff during “Festival Musica in Laguna” (Venice, Italy) under the direction of Maestro Pietro Perini.
Past honors included the Festival Musica in Laguna’s International Piano Competition, Narnia International Piano Competition, and other various competitions and scholarships. Brianna has been the recipient of the Bart Pitman College Scholarship and performed for the Delaware Valley Music Club. She has been performing numerous solo concerts since 2019.

Two time scholarship winner at the Shandelee Music Festival (NY), Brianna also performed at masterclasses of Mr. Alexander Shtarkman and Mr. Alexander Kobrin. Brianna not only benefits from summer music festivals such as the Orford Musique (Canada), the Art of Piano (OH), and the IKIF (NY) but also from mentors such as Alexandre Moutouzkine. Brianna spent 3 weeks in Halle, Germany attending masterclasses from Ilja Scheps and Kathrin ten Hagen at the EuroArts Music Festival and Academy. She also has been selected as a Young Artist in residencies for prestigious festivals such as Pianofest in the Hamptons directed by Paul Schenly and Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival. She has received chamber guidance from Adrian Brendel, Amandine Savary, Colin Carr, and Leandro Silvera.

Throughout her career, Brianna has performed in notable venues such as Weill Recital Hall, Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, Duke’s Hall, Susie Sainsbury Theatre, David Josefewitz Recital Hall, Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center, Steinway Hall (NYC), St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (East Hampton), Avram Theater (Southampton, NY), Auditorium San Nicolo (Venice, Italy), and the Auditorium San Domenico (Narni, Italy). Brianna has also appeared in recitals held at private residences in Basking Ridge (NJ) and in the Hamptons (NY).

Brianna graduated summa cum laude from Stony Brook University where she was awarded with full scholarship allowing her to study with Dr. Pablo Lavandera between 2017-2019 and Gilbert Kalish, Head of the Stony Brook Graduate Performance Program. During her time there, Brianna was chosen to represent the undergraduate students at the Undergraduate Studies Committee as well as fulfilling the role of teaching assistant to Pablo Lavandera. In February of 2019, Brianna gave a solo recital at Stony Brook and collaborated with the Graduate Contemporary Chamber Players in another recital titled “A Portrait of Mauricio Kagel” in the same month. As the winner of the 2018 Stony Brook University Undergraduate Concerto Competition, Brianna performed Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the University Orchestra under the baton of Dr. Susan Deaver in the spring. She gave her honors project, on Nationalism in Liszt and Bartok, as well as her senior recital in March 2020. She was also part of the Royal Academy of Music Chamber Ensemble that premiered a new children’s opera, Daylighting, by Louise Drewett as part of the RAM bicentenary celebration. Brianna also holds a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM). Most recently, Brianna has just finished her Master of Arts degree with Distinction at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Professor Rustem Hayroudinoff. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts at Stony Brook University with Gil Kalish, where she is studying piano performance and maintain and active collaborative and contemporary music life.
