Kay Sohini's Dissertation Featured on Humanities Commons Website
We're pleased to highlight English Ph.D. candidate Kay Sohini's graphic dissertation,
Drawing Unbecoming, which has been featured on the newly launched Humanities Commons Next-Generation Dissertations website. This new site was created to promote next-generation dissertation projects,
which they describe as "any doctoral project whose form goes beyond the traditional
written monograph. It can be a website or other digital product, it can be a graphic
novel, a documentary, or a rap album." The website explores the possibilities of
a next-generation dissertation, showcases notable projects from recent years, and
provides guidance and advice to Ph.D. candidates thinking about undertaking such a
project.
Kay's dissertation considers "how comics can be utilized by scholars and artists alike in ethnography, in narrative medicine, in public health discourse, in resisting disinformation, and in espousing an equitable future for all" and can be found on her website, https://www.kaysohini.com/, along with her portfolio, resume, and other scholarly work.
