The Writing and Rhetoric Minor
(Click here for additional information about the Professional Writing Minor.)
"It turns out science is mostly writing. That's how information gets shared."--Jakub Micko, class of 2017
Advanced knowledge of written communication helps learners in all disciplines to become better students, employees, citizens, and human beings. This minor complements nearly any choice of major concentration since writing competency is necessary in many upper-level courses and in most professions, regardless of subject area. In an annual survey of employers asking for the skills they most value when hiring recent college graduates, 82% answered the ability to effectively communicate in writing. The writing minor allows students a high degree of flexibility in choosing coursework that suits their interests and schedules.
