Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Seawolves,

As the semester winds down and final exams approach, we hope you are looking forward to a few days to relax, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends.

If you currently reside on campus, you are welcome to remain on campus during any or all of the break. Campus offices will be closed on Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26.

The Recreation Center, Union, SAC, and other campus buildings will operate on a holiday schedule, so please check their websites before your visit. Campus dining will be available as noted HERE, including a traditional Thanksgiving meal (with all the fixings!) on November 25. You can also join the Stuff-a-Plush event on Saturday, November 27 and enjoy a relaxing night with fellow Seawolves.

COVID TESTING

The on-campus testing sites (Chapin Commons, MAC Courts and HSC Galleria) will be closed starting on Wednesday, November 24, and will reopen on Monday, November 29. The deVries Center will be closed starting Tuesday, November 23 at 11:30am due to building maintenance, and will reopen on Monday, November 29. The Southampton testing location will be closed on Thursday, November 25, and will reopen on Monday, November 29.

Remember to schedule an appointment in advance as required based upon your specific status and testing schedule as noted HERE.

If you’d like to get tested before leaving for the holiday, you are welcome to do so at the MAC Courts (Recreation Center) testing location. Please note that appointments are required.

STAYING SAFE

If you will be traveling off-campus, keep in mind the following:

  • Consider the community levels of COVID in your location to assess your risk of infection. You can find this information on your community’s Health Department website.
  • Wear a mask indoors. If gathering indoors, open the windows to maximize air circulation.
  • Wearing a mask over your nose and mouth is required on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation traveling into, within, or outside of the United States and while indoors at U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations.
  • Watch out for symptoms of COVID-19, especially if you’ve been around someone who is sick. If you have COVID symptoms, get tested and stay home and away from others. If your test is positive or you have been exposed to COVID, call the Student Contact Tracing Line at (631) 632-6176.
  • Practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers/cleaners are also effective.
  • Practice respiratory etiquette by covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow or shoulder, not into your hands.  Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth; germs are spread this way.
  • Remember your Red Watch Band training. Alcohol use may alter judgment and impact good decision-making around COVID safety measures.

We wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,
