Service Indicator (Holds) Glossary

Every student has holds placed on their account from time to time that may interfere with their ability to enroll or graduate. Most of these occur when they first enroll at the University, some are recurring, and some are situational. Some holds will block your enrollment and some even will result in de-registration.

All of these holds are explained in SOLAR and can be resolved online. SPD cannot investigate or resolve any holds placed by other areas, so please pay attention to the contact information.

Here is a list of the most common holds SPD students will encounter, what they mean, and who you should contact for more information. Again, not all of these holds will block your ability to register, but you won't know until you log into SOLAR and read the message to find out.

CCF	Conduct Code: Not Signed	Everyone must indicate that they have reviewed and understood the Code of Student Responsibility. The document can be found online but you have to confirm in SOLAR.	First term	Office of Student Community Standards

COV	COVID Requirement Not Completed	Whether you are vaccinated or not, the University must know your COVID vaccination status. Once you have submitted the documentation, this hold can take up to 48 hours to be released.	Immediately upon admission	Student Health Service vaccinations@stonybrook.edu
FRN	Financial Responsibility: No Response	Students must review and accept the Student Financial Responsibility agreement that details the billing policies. Once it's signed, the link is removed automatically.	Each term	Student Financial Services Online chat or 631.632.BILL
HTF	Meningitis Form: Not Signed	By law, you have to read a fact sheet about meningitis.	First term	Student Health Service
HTI	Immunization Requirement Not Met	If you are in a program that offers courses on campus, you have to submit proof of immunization. If you are a student in a fully online program, you will see this hold but it shouldn't affect your ability to enroll unless you choose to enroll in a face-to-face course at some point in the future. PROB1 or PROB2	First or Second Academic Probation	Your cumulative GPA has fallen below 3.0 for SBU grad courses and you can't enroll until you speak to your program advisor for advisement.	Only if needed	Your academic program advisor
RHI	Mandatory Health Insurance	All students must be covered by health insurance. You can purchase relatively affordable health insurance through the University or you can apply for a waiver by demonstrating that you have your own. SBA	SB Alert Registration	SB Alert is the University's emergency notification system that notifies community members of any threats or disruptions that affect operations (e.g., power outages, opening delays, etc.). SRO	SPD Online Orientation	Everyone (even online and off-campus cohort students) must review our online orientation slides and affirm they have reviewed them within SOLAR.
