Applications Now Open for 2026-2027
We're accepting applications for our 2026-2027 program year! All mathematically talented students currently in grades 4-9 from Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties are eligible to apply. We especially encourage families in Suffolk County to take advantage of our new, more accessible Stony Brook location.
The entrance exam will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Stony Brook University.
How to Apply
Students must take an entrance exam to apply for the program. To register their child for the examination, parents need to:
- Create an account in our application portal
- Pay the non-refundable exam fee of $65 (see payment options below)
- Plan to bring their child to the examination on March 21, 2026
Payment Options
Select one of the following options in the application portal:
- Standard registration — $65 exam fee
- Financial aid — No fee required
- School/district payment — Select this option if your child's school will pay via purchase order
Registration Confirmation
After submitting the application and payment, you'll receive a confirmation email with the applicant's name and exam time. If you don't receive it within a few minutes, check your spam folder. If it's still missing, contact the program director.

Exam Schedule
All exams take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Specific campus locations will be emailed to registrants prior to the exam date.
5-6 Exam
For students currently in grades 4 and 5
10 am – 12 pm
7-8 Exam
For students currently in grades 6 and 7
2 pm – 4 pm
9-10 Exam
For students currently in grades 8 and 9
2 pm – 4 pm
What to Expect on Exam Day
The exam takes 90 minutes. Plan for approximately 2 hours total to allow time for distributing materials, reviewing instructions, and collecting completed exams. Students need to bring at least two #2 pencils with an eraser. No calculators, phones or other electronic devices are allowed during the exam. Please bring a copy of your confirmation email.
Parent Orientation: While your child takes the exam, parents are invited to attend an orientation with the program director. You'll learn about the program, meet some of our instructors, and see a demonstration of what classes are like. Attendance is expected but not required.

Admission Decisions
ICPS selects diverse, engaged classes representing school districts across Long Island. We carefully review all applications to ensure fair evaluation. This process takes several weeks, and families will be notified by early June 2026.
