Graduate Program
The Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics has a large, diverse program
of graduate studies leading to the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Students have five different
tracks to choose from.
- Computational Applied Mathematics (CAM)
- Computational Biology (CB)
- Operations Research (OR)
- Quantitative Finance (QF)
- Statistics (STATS)
Each track has its own set of required courses and its own qualifying exams for Ph.D. students.
The M. S. degree in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics requires the satisfactory completion of a minimum of 30 graduate credits in letter-graded (A,B,C,F) graduate courses, with some specializations requiring up to 36 credits." Click on the track links above for their course requirements.
The Ph.D. degree has no explicitly required courses. However each track’s required M.S. courses are normally taken by Ph.D. students as preparation for the Ph.D. qualifying exams and for subsequent doctoral research.
