The Jane & Armando Jannelli-URECA Award
Description
The Jane & Armando Jannelli-URECA award, established in 2019, provides up to $1,000
to an undergraduate to help facilitate research projects at the intersection of Business
and Humanities (e.g. Philosophy, Literature, Arts...). The project for which the student
is requesting funds must be carried out under the supervision of a Stony Brook faculty
member.
Eligibility
This program is open to current Stony Brook undergraduates who are US Citizens and/or
permanent residents (*the proposed project/activity must be completed by the student before graduation). Students with a major in the College of Business and/or a humanities major in the
College of Arts & Sciences, particularly juniors/seniors seeking honors degrees in
these fields, are especially encouraged to apply. A minimum GPA of 3.3 in major related
coursework is recommended.
How to Apply
Please see application link below. Applicants should be prepared to upload:
1) a 1-2 page proposal (up to 1000 words) describing the project/ activity for which
they seek support, and should indicate how the funds will be used; and
2) an transcript (unofficial).
Proposal: The proposal should clearly state how the project explores the application of humanities studies to business, or how the study of humanities is enhanced by understanding business models/practices. If applicable, the proposal may detail whether the project will be presented to the campus community (e.g. via a poster/talk--for ex. the campus URECA Celebration, or other venue). Please also specify whether the project is being used for completion of an honors thesis, and specify the time-frame of when the project will be completed. Budget section: the proposal should also include a breakdown outlining anticipated project related costs (if applicable).
3) Letter of recommendation: In addition, a letter of support from the student’s faculty
supervisor is required. Faculty mentors may email the letter of recommendation directly
