Subject: IMPORTANT - Move-in Dates and New Seawolves Welcome Updates
Residence Hall Updates
- Our Campus Operations and Maintenance team has been working around the clock to remedy any flooding issues and confirmed that all of our residential buildings, except for Ammann and Gray, are safe and ready to be occupied.
- Due to significant flooding, Ammann and Gray will need extensive repairs and cannot be safely occupied. We are currently communicating with and working to reassign impacted students to available spaces.
- We are also designating additional rooms as temporary triples and will notify impacted students.
Updated Move-In Information
- If you were scheduled to move in on Monday, August 19, your new move-in date is Thursday, August 22 at the same time you were scheduled on Monday.
- If you were scheduled to move in on Tuesday, August 20, your new move-in date is Friday, August 23 at the same time you were scheduled on Tuesday.
- If this schedule change is not convenient for you and your loved ones, you may check-in on Friday, August 23, Saturday, August 24, or Sunday, August 25 between 9am-5pm or 8pm-9pm at your building.
- If you are notified that you will be in a newly converted temporary triple, your move-in will be Friday at your same time that was originally scheduled.
- Please check the Housing portal for your updated move-in information on your check-in pass located on the assignment confirmation page.
Family BBQ and New Seawolves Welcome
- You and your family members are invited to attend the Family BBQ on your move-in date: Thursday from 12-3 pm or Friday from 12pm-3pm at the Staller Steps. Join us for a fun time with music, free food, games, and much more!
- Your New Seawolves Welcome schedule has been updated and you should see this reflected on SB Engaged starting today, including required programming such as the Class of 2028 Convocation and Wolfie’s Welcome on Saturday, August 24 as well as evening activities.
- If you cannot attend the required New Seawolves Welcome programming on Friday and Saturday, you will automatically be enrolled in the Required Orientation Makeup Experience (ROME) course in the first few weeks of the semester to complete the required programs.
- You will receive an email shortly from the Office of New Student and Transition Programs, so continue to check your Stony Brook email. Should you have any orientation related questions, please contact orientationoffice@stonybrook.edu.
Please continue to monitor your Stony Brook email for any further updates. We encourage you to share this update with your parents/guardians, including forwarding this email so that they are informed.
We understand this has been a difficult situation and appreciate your patience and resilience. We look forward to welcoming you to Stony Brook and the Class of 2028!
