Subject: Are You Ready for Spring Break? Top 5 Reminders and Info on Upcoming Events
Dear Seawolves,
The semester is flying by! I hope you’re looking forward to warmer weather and spring break which is just a few days away.
As noted on the academic calendar, spring break is scheduled from Monday, March 16 to Friday, March 21, so classes will not be in session. This is a good time to destress, travel, have fun, and spend time with friends and family.
-
If you currently reside on campus, you are welcome to remain on campus during any or all of the break.
-
Campus offices will continue to operate during regular business hours. You can also access the Recreation Center, Union, SAC, Library, and other campus buildings. Please check their websites for updated hours of operation.
-
Campus dining will also be available as noted on the Campus Dining Spring Break Hours.
THE TOP 5 - Staying Safe, Healthy, and Well
- Get a good night’s sleep. If you are traveling off-campus by car, stay safe and alert, and please get enough sleep before getting behind the wheel.
- Try to unplug from your schoolwork and stay safe. While there will be more work to do after the break, try and take some time for yourself. Hold on to simple habits: move your body, eat balanced meals, and catch up on your sleep. When you get together with family and friends, remember your Red Watch Band training to prevent an alcohol or drug overdose and stay safe.
- Reduce your stress. If you feel anxious or overwhelmed, try doing grounding exercises to help calm your nervous system. The 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique or square box breathing are quick yet effective ways to reduce your stress.
- Practice good hand hygiene. Help avoid getting sick by washing your hands with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing.
- Reach out if you need help. If you’re seeking in-person care, reach out to Student Health Services and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). If you’re away for spring break and need to connect with a counselor or medical provider, just go to timelycare.com/stonybrook or download the TimelyCare app (iOS or Android).
