Subject: IMPORTANT - Move-In Dates/Times and Exciting Events to Begin Your Seawolf Experience
Dear Seawolves,
Thank you for your patience and understanding while our team worked diligently to
assign you a new residential space as a result of the torrential flooding. We know
that this situation disrupted what should have been a joyful moment for you. Now that
you have your new housing assignment, we hope you are feeling excited to move in and
start your Stony Brook journey!
Check-in Dates and Times
We recommend you check into your campus housing assignment at your earliest allocated
time on Friday, August 23 from 3pm-5pm or 8pm-9pm to ensure you can participate in New Seawolf Welcome events such as New Student Convocation
and Wolfie’s Welcome on Saturday in the late afternoon and evening. However, if this
time is not convenient for you, you may also move in on Saturday, August 24 or Sunday, August 25 between 9am-5pm and 8pm-9pm. Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please feel free to contact your new area office.
Bring Your Family!
If you plan to move in tomorrow, Friday, August 23, before you check into your residence
hall, we invite you and your family to attend the Family BBQ from 12pm-3pm at the
Staller Steps. Join us for a fun time with music, free food, games, and much more!
If you plan to move in on Saturday, August 24, we invite you and your family to attend
a welcome gathering with light refreshments and snacks at the Stony Brook Union, First
Floor Lounge, from 12pm-2pm. We will also be providing vouchers so that you and your
family can have lunch on campus. In addition, your family members may join you at
Wolfie’s Welcome: Class of 2028 Celebration and Dinner from 5:30pm-7:30pm at LaValle
Stadium. Note that this event is typically only for students, but we’re inviting your
family as special guests given the delay in our ability to welcome you to Stony Brook.
Weeks of Welcome
There are lots of events and activities through the weekend and the first several
weeks of the semester to get you connected to your classmates. For more information
about the Weeks of Welcome (WOW) activities, please check SB Engaged or the CORQ app.
We all look forward to welcoming you to our University and the incredible Class of
2028!
Sincerely,
