NYS DEC Invasive Species Grant Program Round 4 2025

Invasive Species Grant Program Portal

The Office for Research and Innovation invites applications to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Invasive Species Grant Program Round 4 2025 which is designed to advance projects across the state that help prevent, detect, respond to, and restore sites impacted by both terrestrial and aquatic invasive species. Stony Brook University may submit TWO bids.

If you are interested in applying, you must submit a pre-application via the Invasive Species Grant Program Portal in InfoReady by Monday, November 24, 2025 at 9 am.  Pre-applications for internal review and selection must be uploaded to the portal as a single PDF document. 

WHAT DOES IT FUNDThe eligible project types for this round are (1) Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Spread Prevention or Boat Decontamination; (2) Terrestrial and Aquatic Invasive Species Rapid Response and Control; (3) Terrestrial and Aquatic Invasive Species Research; (4) Restoration and Resiliency of Sites Impacted by Invasive Species. Type 3 projects must investigate and deliver upon Invasive Species Research initiatives that lead to improved understanding and outcomes in the management of invasive species. Multiple bids can not be made for the same project or project location.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS: No restrictions

AWARD: $11,000 - $250,000 for 3 years. This opportunity has a required institutional cost share. Please email OPD_OVPR@stonybrook.edu to discuss ASAP. 25% match required. Eligible sources of match funds cannot come from other New York State or federal funding sources. 

SPONSOR DEADLINE: December 17, 2025

A complete pre-application should comprise of the following:

  • Project and Work Plan Summary (no more than 1 page) which provides a clear narrative overview of the project. Describe the location, the organizational capacity, and the time frame and partnerships involved (if applicable). In addition, provide the project objectives.
  • Budget Estimate and Description (no more than 1 page) which should provide a list of the types of expenses the grant would fund.
  • CV for the Principal Investigator (PI) (no more than 2 pages)
