Kristi Henderson

Chief of Staff to the Provost and Associate Provost for Strategy and Communications
Kristi Henderson joined Stony Brook University as Chief of Staff to the Provost and Assistant Provost for Strategic Communications on July 1, 2022. She was subsequently promoted to Associate Provost for Strategy and Communications, alongside her role as Chief of Staff to the Provost. 

Henderson held similar roles at the University of Connecticut and the University of Kansas, both public flagships. At Connecticut, she served as Chief of Staff and Assistant Vice Provost for Strategic Communications. At Kansas, she served as Chief of Staff and Communications in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, the largest academic unit at the university. 

At Stony Brook, Henderson serves as a strategist and advisor to the Provost and his leadership team, and frequently collaborates with deans, vice presidents, and other university leadership teams. She facilitates effective and efficient management across a diverse array of matters important to the daily and long-term functioning of Academic Affairs. This includes overseeing the development and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives; leading strategic communications and issues management; and directing coordination of activities and priorities across the Office of the Provost and the Provost’s leadership team. 

Henderson holds two degrees from the University of Kansas, an MBA and a Bachelor’s in Journalism.
