Research Statement
My research interests are on galaxy formation and evolution with an emphasis on the
evolution of the interstellar medium (ISM) and star formation in galaxies. I use both
observational and theoretical approaches to explore the star/gas structure, dynamics,
and star formation over galactic disks. As the cosmological parameters have been measured
in precision, it is the ideal time to study how galaxies and stars build up in this
well-understood cosmological framework. Recent and upcoming telescopes, along with
numerical simulations, are rapidly advancing our understanding of those cosmic structures.
My field is in the era of building big pictures, and I am excited to be a part of
it. I am deeply honored to receive the Godfrey Excellence in Teaching Award and John
S. Toll Endowed Award for Teaching Excellence, both given by our students.
