New strategies like Intercomprehension and Translanguaging teach students how to use what they know as a bridge to acquiring new linguistic knowledge. In Conversation: Director Nancy Savoca with Producer Richard Guay

Award-winning director Nancy Savoca and producer Richard Guay will be in conversation with SBU professors Mary Jane Dempsey and Loredana Polezzi. They will discuss Savoca's life and career, well-known films about Italian American families, including True Love and Household Saints, as well as more recent films.

Welcome to Lori Repetti
Lori Repetti, SUNY Distinguished Service Professor of Linguistics, is the new Director of the Center for Italian Studies. We wish her a warm welcome! We also thank Andrea Fedi for his service as Interim Director, 2023-24, and Director, 2024-25.

Ca' Foscari Honors Scholarships
For the 2026–2027 academic year, the Ca' Foscari University has allocated a package of merit-based scholarships, called the Ca' Foscari Honours Scholarships, aimed at outstanding international students who intend to enroll in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programms (taught either in Italian or in English). Specifically, the offer includes:
- 8 scholarships for Bachelor’s students worth €10,000 per year for a duration of three years;
- 20 scholarships for Master’s students worth €10,000 per year for a duration of two years
