WHEN WILL NETID DEACTIVATE?
Your NetID and Duo Account will be deactivated on the day of your departure as noted here.
FOR RETIREES
The NetID only remains active for Emeriti Faculty. All other retiree’s will lose access to their current google mail — and anything else that requires their NetID — the day they are retired in our system of records.
HOW TO Maintain Business Continuity
In order to maintain business continuity, before employees leave the university it is best practice to ensure your email, google drive and any shared mainlboxes are set up correctly.
ARCHIVE YOUR GOOGLE WORKSPACE
All Google accounts require NetID authentication, and as a result, once your NetID is deactivated, you will no longer be able to access your Stony Brook Google account.
PLANNING TO RETIRE
If you are retiring and don't want to lose your email history or anything else you have on your google drive, there are steps you will need to take in advance of retiring.
Archiving Your Gmail in Advance of Retiring.
PLANNING TO LEAVE
If you are planning to leave (not retire) and want to archive your current email account and anything else you have on your google drive or other relevant material, visit

Cross-Boarding?
Contact a Benefits Representative
RF ↔ STATE
When an individual moves from an RF position to a State position or vice versa, many
changes will take place. In order to better understand this transfer, we recommend
setting up an appointment with a Benefits representative.

Your Employee Experience
Providing Feedback
The Exit Interview
As someone who is about to separate from the university, part of the off-boarding process involves conducting an anonymous Exit Interview. Human Resources will send each employee that resigns a link to the Exit Interview. Please contact hrs_recruiting@stonybrook.edu if you would prefer to schedule an Exit Interview in conversation format (e.g., in person or over zoom.)
Your feedback is invaluable — we hope that you will participate by providing us with honest feedback on your experience as an employee.
