Teaching Assistantship Positions (Fall 2025)

Teaching assistantships are offered at the time of admission to the most qualified Ph.D. students in our application pool.  These offers are decided by the department’s Graduate Admissions Committee. The admissions committee takes into account all the information available to them at the time of admission.   Budget fluctuations and many other factors can affect the number of offers extended to students.

Teaching assistantship positions include a stipend of $26,000.00 for your first academic year of study and an academic year tuition scholarship. Your tuition scholarship also comes with a fee scholarship to cover your broad-based fees. https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/sfs/tuition/broad-based-fee/index.php
