Joseph Acosta, an E&E graduate student, collaborated with the DEC on public outreach and education this summer about invasive aquatic species. His efforts focused on water chestnut, Hydrilla, Ludwigia, and Eurasian watermilfoil. He also assisted with water chestnut removal at Massapequa Lake and supported the DEC’s Freshwater division. We are thankful for his valuable contributions to Long Island’s ecosystem.
