The Writer's Desk
Nestled within the tranquility of the Stony Brook Southampton campus, The Writer's Desk is designed with a focus on generating work. Each semester a guest writer is given their own office to create. Here, the emphasis is on offering writers freedom from the distractions of daily life.
This Southampton-based residency, sponsored by the MFA and Creative Writing and Literature Program, is designed for the solitary pursuit of the written word. It offers writers the space and serenity needed to bring their literary vision to life.
Writers are expected to spend at least 20 hours a week in the office and will finish their residency with a public reading as part of the Writer's Speak Southampton series.
This has no housing component. Ideal for writers in the East End community looking for a quiet location to focus on their work.
Application open until Aug. 21 for our Sept-Dec. residency.
There is a $25 registration/key fee connected to this residency.
