Ticket Access Information

Access Guest Tickets: Tuesday, May 6 – Thursday, May 15

Eligible candidates who complete the Apply to Graduate form and indicate participation in the Main Commencement Ceremony and/or Department Convocations in SOLAR by May 9 will be eligible to claim guest tickets.

Registered candidates will receive an email on Tuesday, May 6 with instructions on how to claim their tickets. This message will be sent to the candidate’s Stony Brook University email address listed in SOLAR.

The ticket portal will also be available on the Commencement website starting May 6. All tickets are free of charge — you will not be billed.

Please note: The ticket portal will close on Thursday, May 15. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are not guaranteed after the portal closes.

*PhD Graduates - eligible candidates who complete the Ceremony Registration Form and indicate participation in the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony will be able to claim guest tickets. (If you have not received the Ceremony Registration Form, please email doctoralhooding@stonybrook.edu

WAITLIST INFORMATION

Waitlist ticket notifications will be sent to candidates’ Stony Brook email addresses on May 16. Candidates will have 72 hours to claim their ticket before it is released back into the ticket pool. Please note: Waitlist tickets are limited, not guaranteed, and will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

MAIN COMMENCEMENT | FRIDAY, MAY 23 | KENNETH P. LAVALLE STADIUM 

  • Candidates participating in the ceremony do not require a ticket to walk in the procession. 
  • Each registered candidate will receive two (2) guest tickets and may request one (1) additional ticket by joining the waitlist through the ticket portal. 
  • All guests need a valid ticket to enter LaValle Stadium — no exceptions. 
  • Children aged 1 and older require a ticket.

Families are invited to celebrate at home by watching the livestream www.stonybrook.edu/live.

 

DEPARTMENT CONVOCATIONS

Ticket allocations vary by ceremony based on class size and venue capacity. Due to strict fire code regulations, guests without valid tickets will not be admitted — no exceptions. Please ensure all your guests have tickets before arriving on campus.

Candidates participating in the ceremony do not require a ticket to participate. 

While not all ceremonies require guest tickets, the following departmental convocations do. Graduates attending these ceremonies may claim the number of guest tickets allotted for their specific ceremony, as listed below.

    • Applied Sciences  - 2 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional  
    • Biology & Biochemistry  - 3 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional 
    • Biomedical Engineering - 3 guest tickets (Wang Theater) and 2 additional tickets in the alternative viewing location (Lecture Hall)     
    • Civil Engineering - 4 guest tickets (Wang Theater) and 2 additional tickets in the alternative viewing location (Lecture Hall)
    • College of Business  - 3 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional 
    • Doctoral Hooding & Graduation - 6 guest tickets 
    • Electrical & Computer Engineering  - 4 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional  
    • Health Sciences - 3 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional 
    • Main Commencement Ceremony - 2 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional 
  • Materials Science & Chemical Engineering - 4 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional 
    • Mechanical Engineering - 3 guest tickets; waitlist available for 1 additional 
    • Psychology  - 4 guest tickets 
    • Renaissance School of Medicine -  12 guest tickets 
    • School of Health Professions  - 7 guest tickets 
    • School of Nursing  - 4 guest tickets 
  • School of Professional Development - 10 guest tickets 
  • School of Social Welfare  - 6 guest tickets 
  • Technology & Society - 4 guest tickets
