Requirements

Admission

- Attend the department's BE/MS Information Session in early-April.

- Complete at least three upper-division CIV courses at SBU with a GPA of 3.25 or higher.

- At the end of senior year, obtain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

- Obtain approval from both the department chair and the graduate program director of CIV.

Credit

- Complete a minimum of 105 undergraduate credits, fulfilling all undergraduate degree requirements

- Complete at least 30 graduate credits for the master's portion of the program.

- Double count a maximum of 6 graduate credits toward both the undergraduate and graduate degrees.

- Undergraduate course credits cannot be used to satisfy graduate degree requirements.

Residency

- Spend at least 1 year in full-time residency during the master's portion of the program.

Program Structure

- The BE/MS program is a sequential degree program, meaning students remain classified as undergraduate students until they complete all undergraduate degree requirements.

Graduate Degree

- Adhere to all requirements outlined in the Graduate Bulletin for completing the master's degree.
