3The co-advisor should be someone who can provide input on the more biological or more chemical side of the thesis project, depending on the primary discipline of the thesis advisor and thesis project.

4Faculty advisors should be aware that they are responsible for covering the difference in stipend between that covered by the training grant (currently $24,324) and the stipend set by the student's graduate program. This differential must be made up from nonfederal sources and advisors are asked to state what source(s) of funds will be used for this purpose in their nominating letters. Once a student has been selected for CBTP support, the advisor will need to provide an account #, in order to avoid delay of the appointment.
