Graduation & Convocation
Completing Degree Requirements
Students should apply for graduation through the Office of the Registrar. More information on guidelines and deadlines can be found on their website.
Biology majors, Biochemistry Majors and BIO minors can be cleared for graduation when all of their major or minor requirements have been completed. Departmental staff clears students after grades have been submitted for the semester and once all transfer courses have been applied.

Biology & BIochemistry Convocation
General Information
Stony Brook University will hold its Sixty-Fifth Annual Commencement at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 23, 2025 in LaValle Stadium at the University Sports Complex.
A separate Convocation Ceremony for Biology Majors and Minors and Biochemistry Majors is scheduled for Thursday May 22 at 3:00 PM in the Island Federal Credit Union Arena. Graduates will assemble for the Biology and Biochemistry Convocation at 2:00 PM in Pritchard Gym. Each candidate will be individually recognized at the Biology and Biochemistry Convocation.
Students graduating in December 2024, January 2025, May 2025, and August 2025 are eligible to attend the Spring 2025 Department Ceremony. Information regarding attendance registration, photo registration, robing instructions, and more can be found below!

All attendees must register for pictures prior to coming to the ceremony using the QR code below (QR code coming soon!):
Please be sure to save your registration number to include on the photo card for the day of the BIO/BCH Convocation Ceremony.
Graduates can find instructions for the day of convocation and robing instructions, as well as an invitation letter to family and friends, below. More information on the University Commencement can be found through their website.
