TRANSFER TEST CREDITS

 

Students may be eligible for college credit if you have taken standardized external examinations such as AP, CLEP, A-Levels, and IB. To see if you are eligible for credit, request that your official test scores be sent to Stony Brook's Undergraduate Admissions Office. Test credits will not be accepted from high school transcripts. Please note a maximum of 30 credits by examination may be applied toward your degree.


 

AP Exams

CLEP Exams

  • Stony Brook awards credit for the CLEP subject examinations only. No student may take a CLEP exam in a subject matter that is a prerequisite for a course already passed, or is similar in subject matter to a course taken.
  • Stony Brook accepts scores with an equivalent to a grade of C or better.
  • Students must request that their test scores be forwarded to Stony Brook University's Undergraduate Admissions Office from clep.collegeboard.org/scores.

A-Level Exams

  • Stony Brook will award up to 8 credits per subject for Cambridge A-Level (advanced) exams in year long courses with grade equivalents of D or better.
  • Students must request that their test scores be forwarded to Stony Brook University's Undergraduate Admissions Office from cambridgeinternational.org.

IB Exams

  • Stony Brook accepts scores of 5 or better for higher-level (HL) exams.
  • Students must request that their test scores be forwarded to Stony Brook University's Undergraduate Admissions Office from ibo.org.
