Sandy Abueladas's research informs both clinical practice and theoretical frameworks in the field of phonetics/phonology, with the long-term goal to uncover the underlying deficits in individuals with phonological disorders. In her work, she examines how individuals process input (e.g., talker, accents) and output (e.g., production) variability and how variability manifests in clinical populations. She uses behavioral, neural, and acoustic measures of speech and focuses on a wide range of languages (Arabic, Spanish, Jamaican Creole, Basque, and French).
