VESO - Veteran Student Organization
Stony Brook also offers the Veteran Student Organization, a chapter of SVA. This club was founded in 2002 and ran strong until recently. VESO is currently active and hosting events on campus with the intent to build a stronger community base here at Stony Brook. All persons interested in joining or who would like more information about the club may contact the Veterans Affairs office at 631-632-4143.

Vets-4-Vets
Incoming Stony Brook University student veterans and military dependents will be sponsored by a student veteran or military dependent who has been enrolled at the University for at least one semester through Stony Brook’s Vets-4-Vets Sponsorship Program. Vets-4-Vets Sponsors provide invaluable peer-to-peer mentorship and guidance, enriching the experience of incoming Stony Brook students. To learn more contact our office at 631-632-4143.
SALUTE Honor Society
Stony Brook University is proud to have an active and growing SALUTE Honor Society chapter. SALUTE is the first national academic honor society established for student veterans, and active military, in 2-year and 4-year institutions of higher education. All Undergraduate students selected for induction to SALUTE must be currently enrolled as a student, and have a minimum of 12 course credits. The undergraduate GPA tiers are broken down according to the following:
- Alpha Tier GPA: 3.75 – 4.00
- Bravo Tier GPA: 3.50 – 3.74
- Charlie Tier GPA: 3.25 – 3.49
- Delta Tier GPA: 3.00 – 3.24
All Graduate Students need to have completed 9 credit hours, hold at least a 3.5 GPA, and will be classified as “SALUTE Gold Member”
