James Pizaro (BA, 2022)
James Pizaro graduated in May 2022 with B.A. in Environmental Studies and Economics. He completed his undergraduate research project on Environmental Factors on Hudson River Vessel Traffic, Winters 2010-2014 supervised by Kamazima Lwiza. His research focus was on the impact of winter icing on marine transport on the Hudson. While at Stony Brook he joined the US Coast Guard in 2021, a year before his graduation. He is currently working on the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Healy (WAGB 20) as a deck watch officer responsible for navigation, security, and safety of the 420-foot military icebreaker. The ship operates in the Arctic Ocean and most recently spent some time in Norway. He was accepted into the Northeastern University’s MPA online program and will start in Winter 2024.
