Chad Marvin

Chad Marvin, a 2017 graduate of the Environmental Humanities track of Sustainability Studies, works for Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture (CNFA) as the Program Coordinator on the West Africa PRO-Cashew Project, which supports cashew cultivation, processing and regional trade policy development in Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria.

Prior to starting at CNFA, Chad completed his master’s in Sustainable International Development at the Heller School Policy at Brandeis University, where he completed his thesis on Coastal Climate Resiliency, Mangrove Reforestation and Community Engagement in Guinea Conakry. Chad served as an Agroforestry Extension Volunteer with the Peace Corps from 2017-2020 and returned to Guinea in 2021 to work as a Program Associate with Aqua Farms Africa, an organization that promotes climate smart, urban aquaponic farming in West Africa.

While at Stony Brook University completing his undergraduate degree in Environmental Humanities, Chad was the first ever Hydroponic Grower on the campus Freight Farm, he also helped found the Stony Brook Sierra Club as an official club at Stony Brook, and worked with iEatGreen, a local not for profit, to provide nutrition sensitive gardening classes to food desert youth groups on Long Island. Chad is fluent in French and Pular and is currently based in Washington DC.
