David O'Donoghue

denis o'donoghue

David (he/him) is a fifth-year doctoral candidate in the Department of History at Stony Brook University, where he researches the historical relationships between human beings, animals, and the environment in Early America. He is currently writing a dissertation on the perceptions, hunting, and uses of the American black bear (Ursus americanus) in the colonial period. When not working on his dissertation, David assists in teaching history to Stony Brook undergraduates, and serves as gallery attendant at the Long Island Museum. 

David also currently serves as the Secretary of the Graduate Student Organization (GSO), which aims to  identify and protect the rights of graduate students, advance their interests, provide a forum for public debate and promote graduate student participation in University affairs.
