Director of Risk Management and Policy Compliance

Marrisa Trachtenberg is the Director of Risk Management and Policy Compliance. Previously, she worked in the President’s Office and brings with her a wealth of institutional knowledge and experience providing advice on policy and compliance matters, handling a broad range of issues, and executing special projects; most recently serving as the Associate Director of Policy, Compliance and Presidential Initiatives.

Marrisa is responsible for establishing, leading, and managing initiatives related to risk management, while focusing on integrating policy management and compliance to support these efforts. She develops and leads initiatives that support ERM strategies while working with the senior leadership team to identify and assess risk appetite, emerging risk, and institutional cross-risk impact for the University, the University Hospital and the Long Island State Veterans Home (LISVH). While working closely with her colleagues in procurement, research compliance, the office of general counsel, export controls and many other areas, she also spearheads efforts concerning traditional risk management, insurance, domestic and international travel advisory services.

Marrisa graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology, summa cum laude, and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Public Policy from Stony Brook University and earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from SUNY Buffalo Law School.
