The Stony Brook University Department of Psychology was founded in 1960 and is one of the university’s largest and strongest programs.
The Department offers two undergraduate degrees, a BA and a BS in psychology, a terminal MA in psychology, and doctoral degrees in four areas of psychology: Cognitive Science, Clinical, Integrative Neuroscience, and Social & Health Psychology

Psychology is pleased to offer funding on federal graduate training grants to eligible Ph.D. students from a National Science Foundation Research Traineeship and a Department of Education’s Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) grant (pending).

Clinical Psychology PhD Program: December 1
Social & Health PhD Program: December 1
Cognitive Science PhD Program: January 15 (priority deadline December 15)
Integrative Neuroscience PhD Program: January 15 (priority deadline December 15)
Note: All of Psychology’s PhD offers of admission include a stipend and tuition scholarship.
To receive full consideration for additional fellowships, domestic applicants to the Cognitive Science and Integrative Neuroscience Programs should submit by 12/15.
