- January 2024: Dr. Riccio started as Research Professor in our group.
- Results of the first ever T2K and SK combined analsysis have been presetend at the Workshop NNN23 that was held in Procida (Italy) October 11-13, 2023.
- DUNE Far Detector 3 Mini-workshop: Toward a Combined Photon Detection and Field Cage System at SBU from June 26-28, 2023
- Neutron Beam Test Analysis Workshop at SBU from June 19-23, 2023.
- May 2023: Prof. Clark McGrew published a paper on Nature Communication titled "Artificial intelligence for improved fitting of trajectories of elementary particles in dense materials immersed in a magnetic field".
- Kuunal Mahtani sucessfully defended his Master's thesis on May 11, 2023. He will continue as graduate student in the group.
- April 2023: Wei Shi received a URA Visiting Scholars Program Award to work on "R&D and prototyping of photon detector systems (PDS) for far detectors in DUNE" at Fermilab.
- April-May 2023: second edition of the Chair's soccer cup tournament is ongoing. Every reaserch area has a team and the NN group formed a team with ATLAS Group. Our performances can be followed on the Instagram account of the tournament (link).
- March 14, 2023: the paper on the total neutron cross-section, first physics analysis with the SuperFGD technology, as been published on Physics Letters B (link here).
- March 8th, 2023: CAPTAIN's second paper accepted by PRD (ArXiv here).
- Sometime in 2020: Prof. Michael Wilking promoted associate professor.
- December 1, 2021: Prof. Chang Kee Jung wins American Physical Society's 2022 Lilienfeld Prize.
- September 24, 2021: Yue Wang succesfully defended her PhD thesis.
- June 14, 2021: Kevin Wood succesfully defended his PhD thesis. Kevin will start as Owen Chamberlain fellow at LBL on July 1st.
- April 2021: Perri M. Zilberman accepted by UW-Madison graduate school. Perri won a Fulbright fellowship to spent a period in Germany.
- January 18, 2021: Sergey Martynenko succesfully defended his PhD thesis. Sergey will start as Postdoctoral Associate at BNL.
- December 2020: T2K results on CP violation among the ten most remarkable discoversies of the year according to Nature.
- September 2020: Dr. Ciro Riccio wins the Gilberto Bernardini prize of the Italian Physical Society.
- April 2020: T2K results on CP violation published on Nature, which dedicated its cover page to it.
- July 2019: A profile article on Prof. Jung featured in the Symmetry magazine titled "The thrill-seeking physicist"
- June 2019: CAPTAIN's first scientific paper published in PRL "First measurement of the total neutron cross section on Ar from 100-800 MeV ".
- May 2019: Perri M. Zilberman receives the Fumi Kato Award for Undergraduate Excellence in Research .
- Feb. 2019: Prof. Jung serves as a CERN Scientific Associate from Feb. - Aug. 2019.
- Feb. 2019: Yue Wang wins the inaugral Ozaki exchange program.
- Nov. 2018: Gabriel Santucci defended his Ph.D. thesis.
- Nov. 2018: Zoya Vallari defended her Ph.D. thesis: Measurement of single Pi0 production in neutral current neutrino interactions on water at the near detector of the T2K experiment.
- July 2018: Xiaoyue Li defended her Ph.D. thesis.
- Apr. 2018: Distinguished Prof. Jung receives the 2018 Dean's Award for Excellence in Graduate Mentoring from the Dean of the Graduate School.
- Jan. 2018: Tokufumi (Fumi) Kato, a former undergraduate and Ph.D. student of Prof. Jung, was one of the honorees of the Stony Brook 40 under Forty Award.
- Dec. 2017: Prof. Jung gets featured on the Stony Brook University home page "SBU Happenings".
- Nov. 2017: Prof. Jung is elected to the AAAS fellow rank. AAAS (American Association for Advancement of Science) is the largest science organization in the world and elects a few hundred new fellows every year in all science for their scientific achievements and social contributions.

- March 11, 2017: Peter Paul passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.
- August 2016: Gabriel Santucci awarded the Distinguished poster award at ICHEP 2016 for the poster titled "Nucleon Decay and Atmospheric Neutrino Reconstruction in DUNE".
- November 2015: Breakthough Prize in Neutrino Physics: NNGroup played a leading role in K2K/T2K & Super-Kamiokande, 2 of 5 honored experiments. Stony Brook Physics Department Website,Breakthrough Prize Foundation Website.
- November 2015: Professor Jung is appointed SUNY Distinguished Professor Physics Department, Stony Brook University.
- October 2015: The Nobel Prize in Physics 2015 was awarded jointly to Takaaki Kajita and Arthur B. McDonald "for the discovery of neutrino oscillations, which shows that neutrinos have mass". Kajita was one of the leaders of the Super-Kamiokande experiment. Members of NN Group have been part of SK since 1991. Read More.

- March 2013: Karin Gilje received the 2013 John Marburger III Fellowship in the amount of $5,000.

- January 18, 2012: Physics World, the magazine of the Institute of Physics in the U.K., has included one of T2K’s results in its top ten scientific breakthroughs of 2011. T2K was included for finding the first indications for oscillations from muon neutrinos to electron neutrinos.

- October 17, 2006: DUSEL S1 Report "Deep Science" is now available.
- June 23, 2006: Henderson HUSEP CDR was submitted to NSF.
- June 1, 2006: The Colorado Senate Bill was signed by Lt. Governor to authorize $20 million for construction of a surface facility for Henderson DUSEL.
- October 2005: The first UNO proposal was submitted to NSF/DOE.
- July 21, 2005: NSF Announces Henderson DUSEL proposal to be awarded as one of the two successful proposals out of 8. See NSF Announcement.
- June 2005: T2K USB280 proposal was submitted.
- July 6, 2004: Super-Kamiokande Collaboration announced new results, Successful Observation of the Oscillatory Pattern of Neutrino Mixing.

- December 20, 2003: Budget Approval for JPARC-Nu Beamline Construction for T2K, Tokai to Kamioka, Experiment (used to be called "JHFnu").

- August 27, 2003: Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi and Prof. Koshiba visit Super-K.
- August 18-20, 2003: UNO collaboration meeting was held in Denver, CO followed by a tour of the Henderson Mine.

- June 2003: Prof. Jung received "Academy of Teacher-Scholar Award" from Stony Brook University.

- October 8, 2002:The 2002 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Prof. Koshiba"for pioneering contributions to astrophysics, in particular for the detection of cosmic neutrinos."
