Erica Murase

Piano, Chamber Music Coach

Dr. Erica Murase performs extensively in Spain and the United States. She has received prizes in international competitions and has premiered contemporary pieces from modern Spanish and American composers in both the solo and chamber settings. A versatile artist, she is a member of the prize winning Stony Brook Baroque Players. She enjoys a very active teaching career and has taught students of all ages for over a decade, including undergraduate piano lessons, chamber music coaching and theory instruction at Stony Brook University. She started working for the Pre-College Program at Stony Brook University in 2014. Currently, she is faculty at the Young Artist Program and Community  Chamber Music program at Stony Brook University and at the Stony Brook School Preparatory. She is also music director at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Patchogue.

In 2017 Murase earned a DMA in Piano Performance at Stony Brook University under Christina Dahl where she also studied harpsichord and continuo with Arthur Haas. She completed a Masters degree in Classical Piano Performance in 2012 at the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied with Solomon Mikowsky. Always interested in broadening her knowledge of music, she then complemented her piano studies with harpsichord, organ, conducting and pedagogy. She earned a Bachelors degree in 2010 from Musikene, Spain, where she specialized in solo contemporary piano music.
