Fellowships for Entrepreneurial Scientists and Engineers

Activateempowers scientists to reinvent the world by bringing their research to market. The Activate Fellowship provides the most promising science entrepreneurs the funding, technical support, networking, community, and time they need at the outset of their entrepreneurial journey. 

The Activate Fellowship is a two-year fellowship that offers science entrepreneurs access to vital funding, resources, expertise, and community—providing a secure path for turning groundbreaking research into commercial products. Activate has just launched a fellowship community in New York .

Since 2015, Activate has supported 103 innovative fellows working across 8 industries. Thanks to continued support from the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DOD), and a number of leading philanthropies, all fellowship support is free and Activate doesn't take any equity in fellows’ startups.

Activate Fellows receive: 

• A yearly living stipend of $80,000 to $110,000 plus a health insurance stipend and travel allowance. Each project also receives $100,000 of research support at the host laboratory.
• Access to research facilities in Berkeley, CA, Boston, MA, or New York, NY, or join the Activate Anywhere Community and work from qualified host laboratories anywhere across the U.S.
• A program of intensive entrepreneurial training, mentorship, and networking.
