Inorganic Chemistry: Reaction Mechanisms

Our research activities are in the field of inorganic reaction mechanisms. Kinetic techniques currently used in our laboratories include conventional techniques as well as methods to investigate reactions in the milli-and microsecond range (stopped-flow, flash photolysis). We are interested in oxidation reduction and substitution reactions of transition metal coordination compounds. In particular, our most recent efforts focus on studies of intramolecular electron transfer through extended, delocalized bridging systems, the photochemical generation of reactive intermediates, and the reactions of singlet dioxygen with a variety of inorganic compounds.
