On Stony Brook:

I chose to study at Stony Brook for a couple reasons. For one, it has a proven track record of providing high quality education and great opportunities to the student body. Additionally, after touring the campus for the first time, I saw a lively community that I knew I wanted to be a part of.

On his major:

I major in political science with a concentration in American government, law, and public policy. I minor in philosophy. I chose this combination because I wanted a complete understanding of the political issues and laws that shape our lives, as well as to challenge myself to think critically about said issues. I aspire to use the knowledge I've obtained at Stony Brook to advocate for strong policy reforms in the future.

Favorite class:

One of my favorite classes was POL 323 (U.S. Congress). In this class, I learned a lot about how U.S. laws are passed and how the legislative branch interacts with the other branches of government. I also decided to be a TA for it in my final semester so I could help other students learn more about Congress.

Interests and accomplishments:

My research interests mostly include domestic policies. Concentrating on American government, law, and public policy allowed me to really hone in and expand my knowledge on these topics and much more. My enrollment in the accelerated Political Science BA/Public Policy MA program has allowed me to take graduate-level courses sooner and develop a greater understanding of issues relating to public policy. My academic performance at Stony Brook has earned me a spot on the Dean's List each semester and lifetime membership in the Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor Society. I am currently expected to graduate with an honors distinction of Summa Cum Laude.

Plans for post graduation:

I will return to Stony Brook in the Fall 2025 semester to work towards my master's degree in public policy full-time. I hope to use the experience I gain in this program as a stepping stone toward law school.

Favorite SBU memory:

I will always remember the everyday moments before and after class-- those casual and friendly conversations with other students about school, life, and everything else. Stony Brook's campus is full of people with great minds and kind hearts, so it's those little interactions that really made this community feel alive.

Advice for future Seawolves:

Understand that college is about more than just getting good grades. While studying is certainly important, there are more ways to foster a valuable experience at Stony Brook University. Don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone-- take advantage of campus events and clubs, and enroll in classes that don't relate to just your major/minor. Make sure to stay well-rested as well! Balancing all of this will allow you to build a college experience that is educational, healthy, and memorable as you prepare for your future career.
