Where are you originally from?
I was born in China and transferred to a U.S. high school in 2016.
Why Stony Brook University?
I heard of Stony Brook's reputation in Pure Mathematics.
I wanted to become a pure mathematician at the very beginning; however, I changed my mind and chose Microeconomics Theory.
Major/minor:
I initially declared MAT (Mathematics), but then I realized that I cared more than abstract terms. So, I then declared AMS (Applied Math) and ECO (Economics), dropped my MAT to a minor, and planned to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics in the near future.
Favorite class?
ECO500, it was my first graduate course and my first taste of advanced modern economics.
Greatest achievement?
With the help of my professors, I've received and accepted a full-time research assistant position at Yale
Awards & Accolades:
Phi Beta Kappa, SBU 2021 Robert S. Roth Scholarship in Economics, SBU 2020 Math Foundation Scholarship, SBU University Scholar Honor, SBU Dean’s list, all semester.
Plans for post-graduation:
Predoctoral position at Yale for two years, then apply for a Ph.D. in Economics.
Career aspirations:
Ideally, become a college professor!
Advice for future Seawolves?
Talk more with your peers and professors, figure out what you want, and work hard for it!
Favorite SBU memory?
I had an interesting trip with the Math Club fellows to the SUMS math conference at Brown, back in March 2020.
