Jesús Jiménez Valdés graduated in Journalism from the University of Seville (Spain). Before initiating his doctoral studies at Stony Brook University, he earned a Master's degree in Communication and Culture from the University of Seville and a Postgraduate Certificate in Spanish Language Teaching from the University of Barcelona. He is currently working on his dissertation for the Department of Hispanic Studies and Languages, while teaching Spanish. His academic interests include Latin American history and literature of the colonial period, specifically the Southern Cone, and digital humanities
