Christian Aponte-Rivera
Department of Chemistry
Dr. Christian Aponte-Rivera’s research focuses on theory and computation of polymeric materials and nanomaterials. He has postdoctoral experience at Duke University (with Prof. Michael Rubinstein) and a PhD from Cornell University (with Prof. Roseanna Zia), where he was a recipient of an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. His future research directions include utilizing concepts from both polymer physics and complex fluids to explore three phenomena: (i) protein aggregation in neurodegenerative diseases, (ii) processing of polymer-particle nanocomposites, and (iii) exploring assembly of charged polymers and bottlebrush polymers for energy storage applications. Dr. Aponte-Rivera’s future research aligns with the CAS shared vision constellation of Global Processes, Connections and Flows.
