Faculty Fellow for the New Economic Framework and CAS 
Professor, Department of Anthropology

In this newly defined role, Andreas will be pivotal in adapting the new economic framework of the university for units within CAS.

Andreas has held various service positions at SBU, including CAS Associate Dean for Budget and Operations from 2012-14 and from 2024-25; Undergraduate Program Director (Anthropology, Human Evolutionary Biology), Graduate Program Director (Anthropological Sciences), Chair of the Department of Anthropology, and served on multiple University Senate committees including the Administrative Review Committee, Graduate Council, and the Committee for Academic Planning and Resource Allocation (CAPRA). In 2023, he received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Faculty Service. 

A biologist and biological anthropologist, Andreas studies the evolution of social behavior (conflict and cooperation; parenting) and questions relating to the ecology of behavior, sexual conflict, life history evolution, and data accuracy. In his teaching, he is passionate about introducing students to the evolutionary study of humans and nonhuman primates aiming at a better understanding of our species in its cultural, behavioral, and biological development through time. In 2023, Andreas received the CAS Godfrey Excellence in Teaching Award.
