Heather O'Connor
Heather joined the Career Center team in August 2021 as a Graduate Student Intern, where she first began working with Pre-Health students. Currently, Heather is the Manager of the Healthcare Career Community. Within this role, Heather works directly with students interested in healthcare. In addition, Heather works with employers in the healthcare industry to increase opportunities available to students and recent graduates of Stony Brook University. Heather is happy to share that she received her Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Stony Brook University in December of 2022. Coaching Style It is Heather’s goal to connect students with meaningful healthcare experiences such as job shadowing, volunteer work, clubs, internships, employment, and professional opportunities. Students are encouraged to meet with Heather to explore career options, plan ahead, and seek feedback so they are prepared for their next step, whether that be applying to a medical or graduate program, or landing a job. Jiana Farrell About Coach Jiana joined the Career Center in July 2023 as the Healthcare and School of Social Welfare Career Coach. In her role, she empowers students to think beyond their academic and practicum experiences, providing them with the tools they need to kick-start their career journeys, as well as reflect on who they are and where their interests lie. Coaching Style With a focus on continuous growth, Jiana takes a reflective approach to helping students
identify connections between Rebecca Mohabir About Coach Rebecca holds a B.S. in Health Science, with a concentration in Healthcare Management, and a minor in Health and Wellness from Stony Brook University. Inspired by her own experience with the SBU Career Center as an undergraduate, Rebecca joined the team as a Healthcare Career Coach in March 2025, bringing an extensive human resources and healthcare management background. As a Career Coach, Rebecca leverages both her academic background and professional expertise to provide tailored, meaningful support to students. She is passionate about furthering the Career Center’s mission to empower students on their career paths and helping aspiring healthcare professionals succeed. Coaching Style Rebecca takes a collaborative, student-guided approach to coaching, creating a supportive space where students lead the conversation based on their unique needs and goals. She helps them set realistic, attainable objectives while offering personalized guidance and encouragement, empowering each student to navigate their professional journey with clarity and confidence.
