Dr. Xiao’s research interests span business analytics, business intelligence, data mining and knowledge discovery, urban computing, economic bubbles and crises, and asset pricing. He has published more than 50 refereed papers in leading journals such as IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, INFORMS Journal on Computing, ACM Transactions on Information Systems, ACM Transactions on Knowledge Discovery from Data, ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems, Real Estate Economics, Information Sciences, etc., as well as in top-tier conference proceedings in data mining, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, such as ACL, AAAI, KDD, WWW, ICDM, etc.

Dr. Xiao has received several research awards, e.g., the Prabuddha De Best Paper Award at the 34th Annual Workshop on Information Technologies and Systems (WITS 2024) and the Best Paper Award at the 2nd ACM SIGKDD Workshop on Talent and Management Computing (2021). He actively contributes to the academic community by serving on program committees for numerous international conferences, e.g., AAAI, KDD, IJCAI, ICML, NeurIPS, ICDM, CIKM, etc. He is also a member of the editorial boards for several refereed journals. He is a senior member of both IEEE and ACM.
