Paola Cépeda and Vahideh Rasekhi won prestigious awards!

Two of our students have been awarded prestigious awards over the last week!
Vahideh Rasekhi has been awarded the Dean’s Alumni Association Leadership award. The Stony Brook Alumni Association supports this award, which recognizes one graduate student who has demonstrated strong leadership abilities in engaging the graduate student community. Vahideh was recognized for her outstanding service as President of GSO, where she has been a model of creativity and constructive engagement.
Paola Cépeda has been awarded the Madeline Fusco Dissertation Fellowship. The award is offered by the Graduate School at Stony Brook University and is supported by an endowment by Dr. Madeline Fusco, a former faculty member in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics.  One award is given each year, to a woman and/or minority member completing a dissertation.
Paola Cépeda has been awarded a Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Completion Fellowship (DCF) for her dissertation, “Negation and Time. Against expletive negation in temporal clauses”. The DCF award is funded with money from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and supports PhD candidates in the Social Sciences and Humanities who are in their final year of dissertation writing.  The award provides a generous stipend, research funds, and money to cover university fees. Only 65 of these awards are given a year, across the whole country.  This is a prestigious award acknowledging Paola’s scholarly excellence!
Congratulations, Paola and Vahideh!
