Prof. Walt Wolfram will visit our department on Nov. 1, as part of the Language Diversity Lecture Series.
He will give a guest lecture titled " The Sociolinguistic Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.:Implications for Social Justice".
Later in the afternoon, we will screen the movie " Talking Black in America ", a documentary recorded as part of the Language and Life Project.

Stony Brook Linguistics Department will host the 20th SYNC conference, an annual linguistics conference that serves as a platform for graduate students from Stony Brook, Yale, NYU, and CUNY to disseminate research results, exchange ideas, and more broadly, foster a sense of community.
